Hart vs. Saugus
Hart Rallies for 7-6 win over Saugus in bottom of the 7th.....
Down to their last out, the Indians rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th for a thrilling come from behind victory over Foothill league rival Saugus. Logan Foley, Adam Reyes, and Brian Klocko were the hitting stars as they had back-to-back-to-back hits in the inning. Reyes provided the first heroics, as he lined a 2-out single to right field , scoring Tim Plante and Foley , to tie the score. Klocko then drilled a double down the left field line to score Reyes all the way from first for the dramatic victory. Jenzen Torrez was the winning pitcher, coming in to throw the last 3 innings in relief of starter, Ryan Kalinowski.
Hart jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Adam Reyes led off the inning with a single and quickly stole second base. Brian Klocko then laid down a perfect drag bunt single to put runners at the corners with no outs. After a walk to Jake Hovis the Indians had the bases loaded. Adam Reyes then scored on a passed ball to put the indians ahead 1-0. Cleanup hitter , Alex Pettee then grounded to the pitcher who threw wildly to first base, allowing Klocko to score. Hovis then scored on a fielders choice grounder off the bat of Tim Plante. Mattie Hernandez then closed out the Indians scoring , hitting a sacrifice fly ball to right field to put Hart ahead 4-0 after 1 inning of play.
Saugus quickly jumped back into the game scoring 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. In the inning , Saugus had 3 hits and took advantage of one Indian error and a walk. Saugus took the lead in the top of the 4th inning , getting 4 hits off of starter Ryan Kalinowski to put the score at 5-4 after 4 1/2 innings of play. At this point of the game through the sixth inning, the Hart offense had numerous opportunities to tie or take the lead back, but were unable to get clutch hits in run scoring situations. From the 3rd through the 6th innings, the Indians stranded 8 runners on base and left the bases loaded twice. While struggling offensively through the middle innings, little did anyone know that the stage was being set for a dramatic come from behind win. Saugus added to their lead in the sixth to put the score at 6-4 as the Indians headed into their last at-bat.
Tim Plante lead off the bottom of the seventh by reaching base safely on an error by the Saugus 3rd baseman. After 2 fly ball outs, things were looking dim for Hart as they were down to their last out. Logan Foley then started the come back by lining a double up the left field alley to put the tying runs in scoring position. Leadoff hitter, Adam Reyes, then clutched up by lining a sharp single to right field to score Plante and Foley. At this point, Brian Klocko came to the plate with a chance to keep the inning and rally alive. With Reyes running on the pitch, Klocko turned on the pitch and drove a hard line drive down the left field line. With Reyes in full stride, Coach Jim Plante waved Reyes all the way around from first base to bring the winning run across the plate for a exciting come from behind win. The win was the Indians 3rd consecutive come from behind victory. With the win , Hart is now 8-3 on the season.
