In today's second half of the doubleheader, Zach Ruff threw a complete game in leading Hart to a 5-3 victory over Valencia. In his first start of the year, Ruff was the story of the game, as he went the distance, striking out 5 , walking 2, and allowing 5 Valencia hits. Offensively, Jason Rehhaut led the Indians , with 2 hits and 2 rbis. Alex Pettee also added a couple of hits and an rbi.

After 2 scoreless innings, Hart was first to get on the board in the top of the 3rd. Michael Morgan lead the inning off with a walk. With two outs, Alex Pettee then doubled to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Jason Rehhaut then doubled up the right field alley , driving in Harts first two runs of the game. The Indians added to their lead in the top half of the 4th as Tim Plante, Jenzen Torrez, and Jeremy Whitcomb each had hits in the inning. Whitcomb had the key hit of the inning, getting an Rbi single to put the score at 4-0 after 3 1/2 innings of play.

With Ruff in full command of the Vikings over the next three innings, Hart added to their lead in the top of the 6th after Mattie Hernandez scored after getting a leadoff single. The score was now 5-0 in favor of the Indians as Ruff headed into the seventh inning hoping to shutout Valencia. Valencia mounted a rally in the seventh getting 3 singles and 2 walks , however Ruff closed out any hopes of a Viking comeback by getting a fly ball to left field to end the inning and make the final score 5-3 in favor of of Hart.

With todays win, Hart ended the 2 day tournament with a 3-0 record and is now 9-3 on the season. Hart's next game is April 8th as they resume Foothill League action against Canyon High School.
