Hart vs. Burroughs

Hart completed a season sweep of Burroughs with a 12-7 win today at Murray Field. The victory evened the Indians Foothill league record at 4-4 as they head into next weeks key 2 game series against Canyon. After trailing Burroughs early in the game , the Indians took advantage of shaky Burroughs pitching, chalking up 8 hits, in putting up double digit run production for the second consecutive time this week. Leading Hitters for the day were Jake Hovis and Alex Pettee. Hovis had a single and a double. Pettee had 2 singles and 2 rbis. Mattie Hernandez also had a big hit on the day. His bases clearing 3 run triple in the bottom of the 3rd , put the Indians in the lead after being behind early in the game. Tim Plante started on the mound and was relieved by Jason Rehhaut who pitched 2 scoreless innnings in relief. Catcher , Mike Cieszko , also a a big game defensively, as he cut down 3 Burroughs runners attempting to steal.

After Burroughs jumped to a 3-0 lead after 1 1/2 innings of play, Hart scored their first runs of the day in the bottom half of the 2nd inning. After Jason Rehhaut , drew a walk to lead off the inning, Mattie Hernandez was quickly hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second with no outs. Hernandez hit by pitch was the first of 7 hit batters by Burroughs pitchers on the day. Tim Plante then laid down a sacrific bunt to advance the runners into scoring position. Andrew Marin then came to the plate and grounded to the shortstop who threw the ball over the first basemans head to score Harts 1st and 2nd runs of the day , putting the score at 3-2 in the favor of Burroughs heading into the 3rd inning.

In the 3rd, Burroughs answered with one run , pushing their lead to 4-2 , as Hart came to bat in the bottom of the 3rd. The 3rd proved to be the Indians big inning of the game as they scored 5 times , taking advantage of shaky Burroughs pitching and getting 2 key hits in the inning by Hovis and Hernandez. Brian Klocko was hit to lead off the inning. Hovis then doubled to right field to put runners in scoring position with no outs. Alex Petee then was walked to load the bases. After a wild pitch scored Klocko from third , Jason Rehhaut was hit by a pitch to once again load the bases for the Indians. Shortstop , Mattie Hernandez, then came up with a big hit in the clutch, as he drove a ball to the fence through the left field alley, clearing the bases with a 3 run triple which staked the Indians to their first lead of the day.

The Indians came back in the 4th, scoring another 2 runs to push their lead to 9-4. Adam Reyes reached base to lead off the inning by getting hit by a pitch. After Reyes stole second, Alex Pettee singled with 2 outs to put their first run of the inning on the board. Pettee then came around to score on a wild pitch . In the 5th, Burroughs made their last noise of the day, scoring 3 times in an inning where they had 3 hits off of starter, Tim Plante. The Burroughs rally was quickly shut down by reliever , Jason Rehhaut, who came in and put up 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief pitching.

Hart scored their final runs of the day in the 6th. Andrew Marin singled to right to lead off the inning. After another hit by pitch off Adam Reyes, Brian Klocko doubled home both runners with a shot up the left field alley. After a walk to Hovis , Alex Pettee got his second rbi single of the game to get the Indians last run of the game on the board and put the final score at 12-7 in favor of HART.

With the win, Hart's record on the year is 11-8.
