This was a well played game by both teams. In the end Hart was left with a man on 1st and 1 out in the bottom of the 10th. Hart was losing 2-1, when the umpire called the game because of darkness. In that event the game reverts to the last completed inning which was the 9th. At that time the score was tied 1-1, so that's the final score, and Hart tied Alemany.

Steve Burton started and took a NO Hitter into the 5th inning. He gave up a double to David Staats to open the 5th. Jaime Garcia ran for him at 2nd. A walk by Clay Ringwood was followed by a double steal putting runners on 2nd and 3rd with none out. A strikeout was followed by an infield single to produce Alemany's run.

Burton wound up with the bases loaded and 2 out and was relieved by Donny Williams. Williams turned in his 2nd sensational game as he pitched 4.1 innings giving up only 2 hits. He gave up a run in the 10th when he hit a batter followed by 3 singles, but all that was taken off the board when darkness cancelled all stats in the 10th inning.

Hart's run came in the 6th inning. Alemany pitcher Mike Gasca hit Ryan Gagnon and Pat Sarkissian hitting for Tyler Fick. Carl Hovet-Fingerle came in to pitch and promptly threw a wild pitch moving Gagnon to 3rd, Fick running for Sarkissian had to hold 1st. Hovet-Fingerle then threw another wild pitch scoring Gagnon, Fick took 2nd. Matt Sreeden hit a hard liner to right center that was caught by Angelo Songco who doubled Fick off 2nd.

Hart had the bases loaded in the 2nd. With 2 out Robert Van Scoyoc walked, Ryan Pettersen singled to left and Kevin Baker singled to short. Matt Valaika hit one deep to left, but it was run down by the left fielder.

In the 8th Shane Carlson who had another 2 for 3 game and is still hitting .667 opened with a single. With 1 out Fick was hit by pitch, but a pop up and fielders choice ended that threat. Both teams were able to muster only 4 hits apiece. Hart's fielding was again super. Shane Carlson didn't let anything by him at 3rd, including a diving stab of a hard liner down the line. Kevin Baker had another great fielding play at 2nd, taking away a hit going to his right behind 2nd and getting the runner on an eyelash play at 1st. Rob Van Scoyoc had 13 assists at first base.

Hart is now 1-0-1 on the season. Alemany is 0-1-1. Hart vs Alemany is 1-0-1 since 1987. Hart's only previous game against Alemany since 1987 was an 8-2 victory in the opener at Alemany in 1999, the year Hart was Div 2 Champion beating Righetti 10-9 at Anaheim Satdium.

Hart plays again, tomorrow 3:00 p.m. at Hart vs. Dos Pueblos. This will be the 2nd meeting between the 2 teams. Hart beat Dos Pueblos in 7-0 on a combined 1 hitter by Eric Spindt and Bobby Graves on April 14, 1994 during an Easter Tournament in Santa Barbara.
