Game Highlights

Hart vs. Agoura

I think this was one of the most exciting games Hart ever played. Everyone breathed a big sigh of relief when Hart finally won. Hart gave up a lead 3 times and almost blew their 4th and final lead in the bottom of the 9th but a great fielding play finally saved the game for Hart as Donny Williams [4-2] got the win. They hit the ball hard, not hitting the "flubbers" that Donny usually gets when he pitches, but somehow he got the game into the win column as he did a High Wire act in a wind storm during the 3 innings he pitched.

Hart was out hit 15-10 and Jason Stoffel struck out 7 in the 1st 4 innings as Hart Struck out a total of 11 times. Tyler Fick was very sick before the game, but struck out 6. He gave up 3 runs in the 6th on 2 singles an error a walk and a HBP and Hart was down 5-3 and looked like they were going to lose until Carlson and Fick Homered in the 7th. Hart Had 4 homers in the game. Ryan Gagnon hit a homer in the 5th to put Hart ahead 3-2 after the home plate umpire had to leave the game with a knee injury. It took 20 minutes for one of the 2 base umpires to go get his umpire gear on and the game continued with just 2 umps. Shane Carlson hit 2 home runs driving in 2 runs with each. The 2nd came in the top of the 2nd with Hart down 5-3 and it tied the game up 5-5. Tyler Fick then followed with a solo homer to put Hart out in front 6-5.

Donny Williams relieved Tyler Fick in the bottom of the 9th and had the bases loaded with only 1 out when he got a perfect double play ball that should have ended the game, but Hart 2nd baseman Kevin Baker slipped after touching 2nd and the tying run scored to make it 6-6. Hart scored in the top of the 9th when Shane Carlson walked, stole 2nd and scored the lead run on a single by Matt Sreden to make it Hart 8-7. Jake Supowit ran for Sreden and took 3rd on a single by Brian Charnock and scored what proved to be the winning run on a "Squeeze" bunt by Ryan Pettersen.

In the bottom of the 9th, Robert Stock (a highly rated Sophomore) led off with a homer. After a groundout a grounder to short resulted in an error. Then what looked like a perfect double play grounder to shortstop Matt Valaika took a skidding hop, Valaika fielded it, but was off balance and now runners were on 1st and 2nd, still only 1 out. Then a perfect double play bouncer again to shortstop Valaika who fielded it perfectly, flipped it to Kevin Baker at 2nd for the 2nd out, but Baker threw it in the dirt to 1st baseman Tyler Fick who made a great "scoop" and Hart finally had the 1st round playoff Victory.

Hart will play Bishop Amat on Tuesday at Hart 3:15 p.m.
